Mustangs Start Out Hot In 4 Set Loss To 7 Rivers Christian

Had To Stay Hot To Take Down 7 Rivers Christian

Had the Mustang’s played the entire match like they did in the first set, this would have been a big win for the girls. After multiple lead changes in the first set, the Mustang’s held onto a late set side out, to drive a set wining ace to win 25-23.

After the first, the Mustang’s struggled with serves and floor coverage, dropping the next two set, 25-15 and 25-16. The girls battled back in the fourth set and held a multiple point advantage at 20. Hot serves and hard hits from the Seven Rivers Christian, pushed the talented Warriors squad into the lead and a win of the fourth set, 25-10, which also gave Seven Rovers Christian the match.

Elizabeth Marshall Named MaxPreps Player Of The Match

Despite their struggles, several Mustang players did play well. For her efforts, Elizabeth Marshall was awarded her 5th Player of the Match designation by MaxPreps. The standout Freshman contributed 18 kills, 3 aces and 16 digs to the team.
Senior Middle, Miriam Chong, contributed 7 kills. Libero, Mia Lewis, contributed a team high 28 digs, followed by Corina Chong with 20, Marshall with 18 and Iva Fearon with 17. Izzy Fearon smashed down 6 Aces, leading all mustang servers in Aces on the night.

While it is tough to take three set losses, the Mustang’s are a young team getting great performances from growing players like standout Freshmen Mia Lewis at Libero, Elizabeth Marshall at Outside Hitter and Izzy and Iva Fearon when in service.
